Soft Strip Demolition
Soft Strip is the process of removing all non-structural elements inside and outside of a building to facilitate demolition, refurbishment or re-modelling works. Soft Strip works can either be undertaken by J W Demolition as a standalone project or as part of a package of overall works for a property.
JW Demolition’s soft strip refurbishment packages are tailor made to the client’s requirements and can include the following but are not limited to:
- Removal of all floors, floor coverings (mezzanine, concrete, timber etc) Ceilings/false ceilings
- Non-load bearing partitions, internal walls (breeze-block, stud partitions, brick etc)
- Removal of various pipework
- Staircase removal/disposal
- Door frames/architraves
- Disconnection and removal of utilities (gas, electricity, water and telecommunications (BT/Virgin).
All Soft Strip Refurbishments require full intrusive method statements, risk assessments, construction phase plans, environmental control measures, site waste management plans specifically for each project this ensures safety & also ensures protection measures are put in place to element where required.
Our soft strip demolition services can be performed either as part of a major building refurbishment programme or prior to demolition of the building. Interior stripping activities include the removal of all floors, temporary floors and ceilings, non-load bearing partitions, mechanical and electrical systems including lighting, cables, cable trays, heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems, and the removal of utilities.

We use soft-strip techniques where we can remove recyclable materials such as timber metal and plastics, prior to the full demolition of site or where a building is undergoing major refurbishment. Soft-stripping allows us to segregate waste materials and as a licensed waste carrier, ensure that we maximise the amount of material that is reused, minimising the volume of soft strip waste going to landfill.
